In a series of interviews, we will introduce you to the consultants from the Simplify Consulting team. Today we meet one of our wealth consultants to find out more about them, their background, and the work they are fulfilling at our busy consultancy.
Today’s spotlight is on Chris Lamb Wealth Consultant at Simplify Consulting. Chris has a background in Wealth Management and experience in delivering a range of projects from strategic initiatives including outsourcing and offshoring, to regulatory delivery or introducing new technology.
What do you do at Simplify?
I am a part of the Delivery team, specialising in Project Management. I work on several client engagements in a Project Management capacity, managing and directing initiatives through to successful delivery. My clients’ needs are always at the forefront of my mind and it’s incredibly important to me that I utilise all the skills I have developed in my career to deliver the best possible outcomes for them. I have been on client engagements where they have a change team as well as those that don’t, so it’s important to ensure I add value regardless of the environment or business culture. Adapting to client needs and circumstances is crucial as this ensures I can remain tenacious in my delivery techniques. As a consultant, I can go into a business and embed change, use my experience gained across multiple types of projects. Having the flexibility to facilitate a vast array of delivery types is paramount in my line of business.
What’s it’s been like working at Simplify?
Working at Simplify Consulting the last year has given me significant opportunities to develop and express myself far beyond what I would have been able to achieve had I remained at a large corporate organisation. It’s an environment where we can put forward our thoughts and ideas for possible solutions or initiatives and the culture breeds sharing of best practise with everyone having a voice. At Simplify, client outcomes are of utmost importance and that really resonates with me. Understanding client needs and expectations is something I carry through from all my past experiences to ensure the client, be that internal or external, is at the heart of all my decision making.
Tell us a about your last engagement.
One of my last engagements included offshoring a significant number of processes, whilst trying to achieve benefits for the business. Although incredibly challenging, the experience was enjoyable, demanding and satisfying. Managing a project through to fruition, working towards tight deadlines, conflicting priorities and the challenges which came with cultural differences is very rewarding. Utilising Simplify Consulting’s tried and tested delivery techniques, benefit realisation tools and capability model as a team we successfully delivered the project on-time, on-budget and to the clients needs and receiving fantastic feedback from all involved – this makes all the hard work and effort worthwhile, knowing we have exceeded our clients’ expectations.
And finally, what do you enjoy outside of work?
Outside the workplace I love spending time being productive, from doing home improvements to gardening and always seem to have a project on the go. I enjoy taking advantage of the area I live in, with walks down the beach and in the forest or attempting to play Golf at my local course. Fortunately enough, Simplify Consulting host multiple team off sites and charitable Golf day’s to help me improve my game!
